Justin Trudeau posted a picture of himself with his daughter as they attended an Oppenheimer screening just days after he was mocked for a photo with his son after seeing Barbie.
The Prime Minister of Canada, 51, posed with Ella-Grace, 14, in front of an IMAX poster for the thriller at the cinema.
He shared the photo on his social media pages on Tuesday night and said he was about to even things out after watching the Barbie movie with his 15-year-old son Xavier on Sunday.
Trudeau posted a picture of the pair in pink outfits with the caption, “We’re Team Barbie,” and was mocked.
The politician announced that he split from her mother Sophie Grégoire Trudeau on August 2. The couple have been married for over 18 years and have three children together: Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien, nine.

Trudeau announced his split from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau on August 2. The couple have been married for more than 18 years and have three children: Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien (pictured at home in 2021).
Trudeau wore a black long sleeve t-shirt, blue jeans and a gray hat for the occasion. While his daughter wore a white zip-up hoodie, orange top and brown camouflage sweatpants.
“Balancing: ‘Oppenheimer’ with Ella,” he wrote alongside the post.
Users on X poked fun at Trudeau for asking for privacy before posting pictures with his family after their split.
“I’d like some privacy at this point, but first I want to take a selfie,” one person wrote.
“Justin Trudeau: I need space at this difficult time in my life. Also Justin Trudeau: Look at everything I do as I post it on Twitter. “I can’t handle these people,” added another.
While a third joked, ‘Don’t things balance themselves?’ Like budgets?’
Trudeau was referring to the fact that he recently saw Barbie with Xavier.

The couple beamed in front of a Barbie poster at the cinema, with the Prime Minister of Canada donning a neon hoodie for movie night, while Xavier wore a fuchsia t-shirt.
The picture was captioned “We are Team Barbie,” apparently alluding to the “Barbenheimer” trend, which saw blockbuster Barbie and Oppenheimer go head-to-head at the box office.
But users on social media mocked Trudeau for his post on Sunday.
“So glad I’m not Canadian,” English broadcaster Piers Morgan wrote on Twitter.
“The shudders, I just winced,” wrote another user.
“Wait, this guy runs a country?” one person commented.
Starring Margot Robbie as the famous doll, Barbie has just surpassed $1 billion in sales. This makes her director Greta Gerwig the first solo director to have achieved this.

Trudeau shared news of the couple’s split in an Instagram statement on Aug. 2
The Prime Minister of Canada shared the pictures at the cinema just days after announcing his split from her mother Sophie Gregoire Trudeau
The film’s prominent themes include patriarchy and toxic masculinity – something Gregoire has spoken out clearly about in relation to her sons’ upbringing.
She told Narcity in March: “I think if we don’t talk about toxic masculinity, the principles and cultures that our boys live in, we won’t be able to address the real root causes of the problem that girls and women have .’ face in our society.’
Trudeau and Gregoire have split, but the couple have said they remain close family and will continue to share parenting responsibilities.
In a statement released in English and French on Wednesday, Trudeau wrote: “Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to announce that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to part ways.”
“We remain, as always, a close family with a deep love and respect for one another and for all that we have built and will continue to build.”
“To ensure the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our privacy and theirs.” Thank you.’
Trudeau’s office also released a statement confirming they had reached a legal settlement and that the couple will remain amicable and will soon be vacationing together with their three children.
Sophie has moved out of the family home to another apartment in Ottawa, a spokesman said.
“They have worked to ensure that all legal and ethical steps have been taken with respect to their separation decision and will continue to do so.”

Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie welcome President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to their home in March. They are shown with their children Ella-Grace (14), Xavier (15) and Hadrien (9).
Canada’s Globe and Mail reports that the couple will share custody of their three children.
Trudeau will stay at Rideau Cottage with the children, but Sophie has already moved to another property in Ottawa.
She will visit Rideau Cottage to be with the children and stay there whenever Trudeau travels.
“They remain a close family and Sophie and the Prime Minister are focused on raising their children in a safe, loving and community environment.”
“The family will be on vacation together starting next week,” the statement said
