Justine Bateman is getting older and doesn’t care what people think.
Bateman, 57, has been a star since she was a teenager and people watched as she grew up on screen.
But the “Family Ties” star didn’t realize the internet was obsessed with her aging face until she googled herself.
“I had to google something to do a little research and remember something that happened when I was famous, so I put my name in, googled my name, Justine Bateman, and then the autocomplete came up, which said : ‘looks old’. Bateman told 60 Minutes Australia.
She continued, “And I was only 42 at the time… and I was like, ‘What?’ And I looked at the pictures they had as evidence and I couldn’t see what they were talking about.”

The interviewer later asked Bateman if people might find the aging process “beautiful,” to which she replied, “I just don’t give in — t. I think I look awesome. I think my face represents who I am. I like this.”
While Bateman knows it’s possible to make yourself look younger through work and procedures, she says she enjoys seeing her age.
The writer-director added that she’s saddened by women who use botox and fillers to prevent wrinkles and thinks “they’re just not enjoying life.”

“I’m saddened that they get distracted from the things they’re meant to do in life with this consuming idea that they need to get their face in order before anything else can happen,” Bateman admitted.
“Forget your face! That’s what I say. Get rid of the fear that your wrinkled face will spoil many opportunities for you.”
But that doesn’t mean the actress hasn’t thought about it.

“You can certainly look in the mirror and say, ‘Oh, if I just had a lower facelift, I would get rid of this skin that catches the light, and then I could have this surgery where you go in the eyelid, right They take some skin off and what’s hanging over the eyelid now you can have it removed,” Bateman said.
Bateman’s latest book Face: One Square Foot of Skin also focuses on the issue, with a collection of stories from 47 women about their thoughts on aging and the pressures society puts on women to look young.

Although she sometimes wonders what she would look like after minor cosmetic surgery, she has no interest.
“Sure you can do all of that, but even with that I would just… I feel like I’m not only wiping out all the authority I have now, but I like the feeling that I’m a different person now.” than I was when I was 20,” she shared. “I like to look in the mirror and see that evidence.”
