Justine has been among the most skinned contestants on social media since the start of Survivor Quebec season 1.
We had an opportunity to speak to her on Thursday and discuss the matter.
“I didn’t expect to get so many hate messages,” she says at first.
“I can understand that we don’t associate with every character in reality TV, but we have to understand that it’s a game. The Justine of the game isn’t the Justine of real life.” I’m not a bad person in life. People attack me when they don’t even know who I am. On TV you only see 10% of what really happened, who you really are, so it’s very difficult for me to read the comments. It still pains me a lot today, but I think there’s a risk in signing up for reality TV. »
She adds: “I stopped reading comments a month ago, I blocked gossip sites, I blocked everything I could so I don’t see what could hurt me. Whenever I see a post with my photo in mind, I immediately delete and block it because I don’t want to risk seeing it. I read them first, but to keep my sanity I had to stop. »
A moment that drew widespread criticism on social media was when she decided not to take a test. “What I want to say is that I wasn’t eating any more than other people and my body was such that I really had no feelings. I woke up all night long. I just wasn’t ready for the exam. I was sick just before the test. It’s not that I didn’t want to take the test, on the contrary there was a riddle and we know I love doing riddles but my health just didn’t allow for it. »
