The 49th edition of the César was marked by the coronation of “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Triet, the second woman to win the César for best director. The film is now on its way to the Oscars.

It is a success that no one would have bet on. Today Justine Triet collects trophies. Having won six Césars on Friday evening, February 23rd, she is now on her way to the Oscars. “Anatomy of a Fall” is initially a complex film full of nuances: a woman accused of killing her husband, with her blind son as the only witness. Detective film and marital drama, the film is fascinating. Last May he won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. Since then, awards have been given out, including six Césars and two Golden Globes, as well as a Bafta.

On the way to the Oscars

On Friday evening, with her César in her hands, Justine Triet had already set her sights on Hollywood. The Oscars are in two weeks and she has to campaign. “I don't know if I'll do it again forever, but it's very interesting to experience. On a personal level, it's very rewarding to meet filmmakers I admire, actors and actresses I admire endlessly,” she admits. With these five Oscar nominations, the Frenchwoman enters another dimension. In the United States she shares the stage with legendary directors such as Martin Scorsese.
