Kamala Harris to turn to DNC after returning from trip to Europe

Vice President Kamala Harris will bring Democrats together at their winter meeting on Saturday after her return from Europe to discuss the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Harris is scheduled to testify before the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in Washington, D.C., as party supporters brace for what is expected to be a difficult election midseason. For the first time since 2019, hundreds of DNC members gathered for an in-person event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden addressed the approximately 415 DNC members Thursday night, telling them to be proud of what Democrats have accomplished since his presidency and better promote the report to the American public.

“We have a record – a record to be proud of; an agenda to address the biggest problems here in America in people’s lives; a message that resonates,” Biden said at a gathering at the Washington Hilton on Thursday. “Now what we have to do is we have to sell it with confidence, clarity, conviction and repetition.”

Harris had just returned to Washington early Saturday morning after traveling to Poland and Romania to demonstrate the unity of NATO allies, support Ukraine and denounce Russia’s unwarranted war against the Ukrainian people.

Harris on Friday said the US would take additional action to ensure Russian President Vladimir Putin faces “serious punishment” for his “brutal and outrageous behavior on behalf of the Russian people.”

During a joint press conference in Bucharest, Romania on Friday, along with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Harris said it was “painful” to watch what is happening to the Ukrainians.”

“We are clear that any deliberate attack or attack on civilians is a war crime, period,” Harris said.

At the conclusion of his trip to Europe, a White House spokesman said that Harris “will continue his work, engaging in a series of phone calls with leaders of the European and eastern flanks early next week. to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
