Kanye West revs up Gap for ‘copying’ designs from Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga

Kanye West is dealing with Gap.

On Wednesday, the “Praise God” rapper Instagrammed a screenshot of a text exchange with a friend who had shared a link to a Navy logo T-shirt on Gap’s website and commented, “This is Gap copying YGEEB” – in A nod to Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, West’s collaboration with the American apparel giant and luxury fashion label.

“Exactly,” West, 45, replied to his pal.

The Grammy winner threw another allegation at Gap with his caption for the post: “But they canceled the photoshoot with my kids in Japan without me knowing.”

Less than 24 hours earlier, West also called the company because they allegedly met about his designs without him.

“Gap held a meeting without me about me?” He captioned a quick Tuesday of the brand’s new visor-style reflective sunglasses, dubbed YR 3022 YZYGAP SHDZ, recently spotted on Kim Kardashian and the former couple’s daughters became.

Similarly, West recently took action against Adidas (which handles the manufacturing and distribution of its Yeezy brand) for allegedly launching Yeezy Day, hiring employees and making design decisions without his input.

West signed a 10-year deal with Gap in 2020 and has since generated plenty of press for the retailer, if not always positively; Earlier this month, shoppers were furious to discover that the Yeezy Gap collection had sold out in stores. (In a recently deleted Instagram post, West urged his Instagram followers to “think of the homeless as ‘the greatest inspiration for all design.'”)

“The seller said Ye got mad when he saw they did it [his clothes] on hangers” because “that’s the way he wanted it”, tweeted the New Yorker, who drew attention to the unconventional display, adding, “They won’t help you find your size either, you’ll just have to rummage through everything.”

West described himself as an “innovator” during a Fox News interview amid the uproar, saying, “I’m not here to sit down and apologize for my ideas. That’s what the media is trying to do: get us to apologize for any idea that doesn’t exactly match what they’re trying to convey.”
