Éboulois painter Kathleen Pelletier, who signs her works under the name Kapelier, received the silver medal from the Arts-Sciences-Lettres (ASL) Academy in Paris, France, on October 14.
This high award underlines the artist’s 43-year career. The aim of the academic institute ASL is to recognize and promote people who, through their talent and work, contribute to the influence of (French) culture in the artistic, literary and scientific fields.
“This passion has been recognized by many art connoisseurs and buyers. “Thousands of paintings that he painted in his workshop in Charlevoix now hang on the walls of thousands of people all over the world, but of course especially here in Quebec,” said those around the artist in a statement.
Kapelier is known for the power of his colors, particularly in the landscapes of Charlevoix. As a contemporary, she encompasses realism, figurative, floral, fantastic and mystical. She promotes Charlevoix and Quebec through her numerous exhibitions abroad.
Although many paintings were sold in galleries, the vast majority were sold in his workshop on the Route du Fleuve in Les Éboulements. “The artist, the woman, is always the recognition of this special moment: the painting that goes,” the press release also says.
