Karawanken tunnel, A2: traffic jams in return traffic from the Easter holidays

According to ÖAMTC mobility information, there were still traffic jams on the return journey on Monday afternoon, which was basically a pretty quiet Easter weekend.

AUSTRIA. In addition to expected overloads in Tyrol (A13, B179, B169), Salzburg (A10) and Styria (A9), accidents caused longer time losses.

The Karawanken Tunnel (A11) had to be closed for about an hour after an accident occurred on the Slovenian side at around 3.30pm. At 5:30 pm it was still retreating about five kilometers at the entry point, a loss of time of about half an hour. More about that here.

Accident in Grimmenstein

After an accident around 4 pm near Grimmenstein towards Vienna, the accident site was difficult to pass on the southern autobahn (A2). The result was a traffic jam of about 10 kilometers. By 5:30 pm, it was in the process of dissolving.

There was also a traffic jam in the afternoon on the Tauern Autobahn, Villach in the direction of Salzburg between Spittal Ost and the Steinbrückenbach valley crossing: Ten kilometers of traffic jams, block handling, construction sites. In Kiefersfelden in the direction of Rosenheim between Oberaudorf and Brannenburg: five kilometers of congestion, time loss of up to ten minutes.

There were also longer waiting times in Vienna, especially on the inner ring road, drivers had to be patient. Because of an accident near Burggasse, it was stopped around 17:30.
