The grudge match between sisters-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle reached a boiling point when Queen Elizabeth passed away last September, according to royal gossip.
The Princess of Wales has “built resentment against Markle” for getting the former Miss to say goodbye to her beloved monarch, according to royal biographer Robert Jobson, author of new tell-all novel Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed.”
Middleton, 41, reportedly felt compelled to stay in England when the Queen died at Balmoral – in a bid to prevent Prince Harry, 38, and Markle, 41, from traveling to Scotland.
Jobson claimed King Charles ordered both wives to stay behind as it was “not appropriate” for spouses to be at the Queen’s deathbed.
“Harry insisted that Meghan travel to Scotland with him as the Queen’s life ebbed, but the King said it was only for the children and grandchildren to be with the Queen,” claimed Jobson, 49.
The biographer also claimed Charles, 74, asked Prince William not to bring the then-Duchess of Cambridge as “if Catherine can’t come, neither can Meghan”.
Jobson added, “Privately he wanted to say that Meghan is not welcome – but he couldn’t tell Harry that, so he personally intervened and asked Kate to stay back so it would be fairer to Meghan.”

However, Middleton was anxious to fly to Balmoral to see the late monarch one last time before she died due to her close friendship with Queen Elizabeth.
“Kate intentionally stayed away, but she was desperate to be with the Queen in her final moments,” Robson wrote. “It ate up Kate and built resentment towards Meghan.”
The Queen died on September 8 and Middleton was spotted picking up her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, from school that day.
Members of the royal family who rushed to Scotland to see the sovereign included Charles, his wife Camilla, Princess Anne and the Queen’s doctor, Professor Sir Huw Thomas.
William, 40, as well as Prince Edward, his wife Sophie and Prince Andrew also flew to the company’s Scottish residence after the Queen’s death.
Harry had also arrived, albeit a little too late to say goodbye to his grandmother.
The Post has reached out to palace officials, as well as Prince Harry and Markle for comment on the new allegations.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Jobson’s book, he wrote how Middleton found the walking tour she and William took with Harry and Markle just days before the Queen’s funeral was “one of the most difficult things” she’s ever had to do.

On September 10, the group – dubbed ‘The Fab Four’ by the scathing British press – walked the grounds of Windsor Castle to greet well-wishers and mourners.
He explained that the outing was an idea proposed by William to present a united and common front in the face of the Queen’s death.
But the walk was reportedly delayed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the time, NBC royal commentator Daisy McAndrew claimed.

“Interestingly, the reason the tour was so late – it was supposed to be almost an hour before they actually came – was because of course Harry and Meghan had to go and change,” McAndrew said the show “Today”. on September 13, adding that they were about an hour late for the event.
“They weren’t wearing the proper formal mourning attire so they had to go and change quickly – I’m guessing doing hair and makeup for Meghan. That’s why they were late.”
