Kate first brought Clive home more than a decade ago. She had previously stated that he was “quite old” and around 15 or 16 years old.

When she announced the tragic news of Clive in June, the actress explained that she hasn’t “made it to do a montage or look at pictures of him yet.”

“Every single part of my house feels like it’s meant to be in it,” she captioned a selfie of her holding her adorable cat, who was wearing a pink pig print onesie. “If anyone expects to hear from me, maybe they won’t for a while, and I’m sorry.”

“My heart is absolutely broken,” she concluded.

Her celebrity friends rushed to comfort her in the comments section, including Anya Taylor-Joy and Seth Rogen.

“We got him when my daughter [Lily Sheen, now 20] “was small,” she told People in 2019. “And he’s usually shaved in an odd shape, but he recently survived cancer.”

Speaking to the outlet about Clive’s personality, the mother-of-one gushed that his “favorite things in the world are suitcases, boxes and bags.”

“If you take home a pair of sneakers or take out a bag, he’s in right away,” she gushed. “So we got him this suitcase bed and he loves it so much.”

Beckinsale also stated that she prefers cats because they are “easier” to take care of than dogs.

“You don’t have to walk around with a bag of poo like walking around with a bag of poo like a dog I hate,” she mused.

Clive’s life of luxury has been extensively documented on the actor’s social media, which is awash with photos of him dressed in hilarious costumes, traveling on private planes and staying by her side through thick and thin.

In many of her posts with Clive, he’s been seen sporting pink nail polish, funny hats, posing with props, or even coordinating looks with Beckinsale.

In 2021, during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, she discussed how to dress up her two cats during quarantine.

“There are a few cats, but one of them dresses up more than the others, so it’s a little more common,” she said, referring to Clive.

She joked, “That’s what happened to me in the pandemic … that’s taken its toll.”

Beckinsale then pointed out that it only takes “12 seconds” to dress her pet and she can find time even on a “busy day.”

Funnily enough, during the “deep, deep pandemic” the star said she made “cat tanks” out of an Amazon box and Roomba.

“I bought a Roomba just for this purpose,” she mused. ‘[Clive] I love it in there! He says: “You finally got me an electric scooter.”

Beckinsale has another Persian named Willow and a Pomeranian Myf.
