Kate Middleton helps out during a visit to a baby bank in Barnet that supports struggling families in the run-up to Christmas

Kate Middleton ditched her power suits today as she helped visit a baby bank in Barnet, north London.

The 41-year-old Princess of Wales traveled to Sebby’s Corner to launch an initiative by the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood to support families with young children in the run-up to Christmas.

The queen wore her hair loosely in curls and wore natural makeup. She appeared relaxed as she chatted with staff and helped stock shelves of books and toys.

The mother of three, who has made early childhood education the core of her work in the royal family, wore a light layer of foundation and black eyeliner, which perfectly matched the business casual look.

After arriving in a warm brown coat, the princess took it off to reveal a black turtleneck and brown skirt with trendy knee-high boots today. For a touch of glamour, she added Missoma earrings, worth £71.

The 41-year-old’s current looks exude a purposeful, business-like image and couldn’t be further from the primary-toned dresses she’s previously favored.

Many have wondered whether there is a new face on the princess’ team or whether a style consultant is waiting in the wings.

Sources close to the future queen insist this is not the case, saying Kate’s momentum is simply because she is a woman who has finally found the right path.

Established in January 2021, Sebby’s Corner supplies items to families in need across Barnet, Hertfordshire and London.

Families are referred from a large network of referral partners, including professionals such as midwives, health visitors and teachers.

One explains that although the “rise” to Princess of Wales was a huge challenge, she has now completed a year “in the job”.

This coincided with the launch of their new campaign, ‘Shaping Us’, to highlight the importance of the early childhood years and how what happens to us during this time can shape our adult lives.

A source said of Kate: “She has spread her wings and brought public awareness to important issues that she cares about.” People have stood up and taken notice.

“This is a lifelong campaign for her and the fact that it has been so well received has given her enormous confidence.”

Since opening, Sebby’s Corner has supported over 5,000 families and has seen referrals increase year on year.

Supported by local communities, baby banks are a vital lifeline for families in all sorts of difficult situations.

The visit comes as the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood released an “Issues Index” which found a third of the public cite financial pressures as the biggest issue facing parents and carers in 2023.

During her visit, the Princess will hear about the important work that baby banks across the UK do to provide families with essential items such as clothing, nappies, toiletries and baby equipment.

While at Sebby’s Corner, the Princess will meet a mother who has been supported by the charity, as well as the referral partner who made the referral.

Her Royal Highness will be putting the finishing touches to Sebby’s annual Christmas Grotto alongside volunteers and Shaping Us advocate Giovanna Fletcher.

The Christmas Grotto offers struggling families the opportunity to choose gifts for their children.

Finally, the Princess will take part in a conversation with Baby Banks representatives from across the UK to discuss the increasing demand for their services.

There are more than 200 baby banks across the country, all of which are currently seeing increasing demand for their services.

The Early Childhood Center will encourage the public to donate money, products and used items or volunteer to support their local baby banks throughout December.

Several Shaping Us Champions will also lend their voices to the campaign

As highlighted in the “Shaping Us” campaign The Princess launched in January, our relationships, experiences and environments in our earliest years lay the foundation that shapes the rest of our lives.

Organizations like Baby Banks can help alleviate the stress and strain they face and in turn give parents and carers the opportunity to provide the nurturing care that is so important for babies and young children. Supporting parents and carers who are doing their best to care for their families in incredibly difficult circumstances is essential and can have a life-changing impact.
