Kate Middleton returns home after 14 days in hospital: Flowers and gift bags given to Princess Kate by well-wishers are being returned to Windsor by royal aides as she continues to recover following abdominal surgery

Kate Middleton returned home today after a two-week stay in hospital following abdominal surgery – with flowers and a gift bag left by well-wishers that were brought back to Windsor by a royal aide.

The 42-year-old Princess of Wales is not expected to attend official engagements until after Easter, while her husband Prince William clears his schedule of official duties while she recovers at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Great Park.

A fortnight ago, on Tuesday January 16, Kate checked into the London clinic – royal sources said she was making “good progress” and will now continue her recovery from home.

Web understands that her return to official duties is subject to medical advice at a later date and that William will return to public engagements once she is settled.

The Princess of Wales was discharged from hospital after a three-day stay recovering from prostate surgery just hours before King Charles left the London clinic. The radiant man was pictured leaving the clinic with Queen Camilla by his side.

Charles visited Kate last Friday morning before his operation and was also visited four times by his wife Queen Camilla in hospital in Marylebone.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: The Princess of Wales has returned to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The Prince and Princess would like to say a big thank you to the entire London Clinic team, particularly the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they provided.”

“The Wales family remains grateful for the good wishes they have received from around the world.”

After three nights under observation, Charles left the London Clinic in Marylebone today with Queen Camilla at his side.

The 75-year-old monarch was admitted around 9am last Friday morning as he was undergoing corrective action for the benign condition.

The street had been cleared, but a large crowd of children and onlookers had gathered to watch them climb into a waiting car.

There was a heavy presence of uniformed police officers keeping watch as the royal couple were evicted.

It has been reported that Charles could take up to a month off from public duties while he recovers.

The King was visited twice by Queen Camilla yesterday, the third and fourth time she has visited him since her arrival at the private hospital.

According to NHS England, the 'enlarged prostate' page on the NHS website was visited once every five seconds on the day the royal's diagnosis was announced, and there was another huge increase in visits in the following days.

Camilla previously said her husband was “doing well” and was looking forward to getting back to work.

News of his diagnosis came on the same day that Kensington Palace announced on January 17 that the princess was in hospital.
