Kate Middleton’s ‘subtle backlash’ at Meghan Markle after Netflix documentaries

Did Kate Middleton Just Subtly Attack Meghan Markle After Releasing Her Netflix Documentaries?

Many people online are convinced that the Princess of Wales – and several other members of the royal family – cast shades on the Duchess of Sussex on Thursday night by wearing matching burgundy outfits.

Numerous members of the royal family appeared in similar maroon looks to Kate’s Christmas service at Westminster Abbey in London, just days after Meghan claimed she often wore muted colors to appearances to avoid clashes with other royal members.

Meghan said in the third episode of her and Prince Harry’s document, Harry & Meghan, which premiered last week, that she tried to tone down her outfits by wearing beige and white to make sure she didn’t overshadow anyone.

“I’ve been in the UK most of the time and rarely wore colour. I wore a lot of muted tones, but it was such that I could just blend in. As if I’m not trying to attract attention here,” she explained.

The Duchess also said she was told “not to wear the same color as any of the other, older family members.”

“As far as I know, you can never wear the same color as Her Majesty when there’s a group event,” she continued.

“You shouldn’t wear the same color as any of the other older family members, either.”

She repeated the statement in episode five: “Up until last week I rarely wore color in the UK and I never wanted to stand out or ruffle the feathers so I just tried to blend in.”

But the royals appeared to put a stop to those accusations by sporting the same shade of red on Thursday.

Also her seven-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte; sister Pippa Middleton, 39; and Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall, 41, all wore same-colored ensembles.

Upon seeing the matching outfits, many social media users wondered if it was a message to Meghan.

“Loved the subtle slap back at Meghan yesterday when she said she was forced to wear bland colors because you can’t clash with a senior royal… Imagine Kate’s group text, which read, ‘Everybody’s wearing tonight.’ your burgundy coat,” one person tweeted.

“This was a shot at Meghan for saying you can’t wear the same color as one of the senior members of the royal family. I suspect that this burgundy festival was organized by Kate, and rightly so. Making a point in a very subtle but impactful way,” added another.

“That was one way to react,” joked a third person.

In the six-part docuseries, Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, made a series of bombastic allegations against the royals.

Harry claimed his family had grown jealous that Meghan was “doing the job better” and “stealing the limelight from those born to it” – so they pursued a vendetta against her.

Harry also said his older brother, Prince William, 40, scared him in January 2020 when he “yelled and yelled at” him in front of his father and grandmother as he tried to negotiate a deal to leave the UK.

He said: “It was terrifying that my brother was yelling and yelling at me and my father was saying things that just weren’t true. And my grandmother, you know, just sits there and takes it all in.’

In addition, the Duke claimed the palace did not ask for his permission to issue a joint statement and denied claims that William had “bullied” the Sussexes from the royal family.

“I could not believe it. No one had asked my permission to put my name under such a statement,” he said.

‘[Meghan] burst into tears because they happily lied within four hours to protect my brother…yet they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.’
