Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been hospitalized for planned abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace said in a statement on Wednesday. The British king was expected to remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days.
The statement did not elaborate on what the operation was intended for. Kate said: “She hopes the public understands her desire to maintain as much normality as possible for her children and her desire for her personal medical information to remain private.”
Shortly after news of Kate and her husband William, the Prince of Wales's official residence, was announced, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that William's father, King Charles III, will be in for treatment next week an enlarged prostate would be hospitalized.
“Like thousands of men every year, the king was treated for an enlarged prostate. “His Majesty’s condition is harmless and he will go to hospital next week for corrective surgery,” Buckingham Palace said in its statement, adding that the monarch would postpone his public appearances “for a short recovery period.”

Kensington Palace confirmed to CBS News that Kate did not have cancer and that William would miss some future engagements to be with his wife.
The “surgery was successful,” Kensington Palace said, but “based on current medical advice,” the Princess of Wales is unlikely to “return to public duties before Easter.”
The statement said: “Kate looks forward to resuming as many (commitments) as possible as quickly as possible.”
Kate's husband William, King Charles' eldest son, is next in line to inherit the British throne.

William and Kate have three children: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5).
The Princess is generally healthy and active and participates in a number of sports. However, during all three pregnancies she suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness that made it impossible for her to attend royal events in the weeks before her delivery.
