Catherine, Princess of Wales, has left hospital almost two weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery.

A statement from Kensington Palace said the princess had now returned to her home in Windsor and was “making good progress.”

She was evicted from the London Clinic private hospital without appearing in public.

The exact nature of the surgery has not been revealed, but the princess will require months of recovery.

The princess had spent 13 nights in hospital since her operation and is not expected to return to official duties until after Easter.

Kensington Palace said the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted to send a “huge thank you” to the medical team at the hospital in central London and for the “well wishes they have received from around the world”.

The palace statement said the princess would continue her recovery from home.

Catherine, 42, was in the same private hospital as the royal, who visited her before undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate on Friday.

The King remains in hospital after being treated for a benign prostate problem, which is not cancerous and is a common condition in older men, according to the NHS.

About one in three men over 50 have symptoms of an enlarged prostate, a gland that sits directly beneath the bladder.

75-year-old King Charles' plan to undergo “corrective treatment” of his prostate has been made public to encourage other men to undergo prostate exams.
