Exit: Kathryn Dennis confirmed this week that she will not be returning to Southern Charm for the ninth season of the Bravo reality show
“Can you believe I was 21 when I started making Southern Charm, back in the first season? That was in 2013, and in the decade that has followed, it’s safe to say my life has changed in ways I never could have imagined,” she said in her statement.
“It wasn’t always easy, but I’m so lucky to have reality cameras there that captured so many moments that I’ll never forget (and some that I wish I would).”
Kathryn reflected that her reality TV fans saw her “grow up” and “become a mom to two amazing kids” while making friends she can “always cherish” in the future.
“And through it all, the love you guys showed me not only gave me the strength I needed to face anything, but also helped me to realize that I’m not alone. I am so grateful.’

If Kathryn has indeed moved away from the show, it comes a year after major life changes.
Back in November 2021, she and Chleb Ravenell “went separate ways” when an episode of Southern Charm’s season 8, which aired in July, revealed the disintegration of their romance.
The two were eventually driven apart by Kathryn’s custody battle with her ex, Thomas Ravenel, though they both had different interpretations as to why the relationship wasn’t working.
After a disagreement in the previous episode, Kathryn attempted to bring the temperature down by cooking a meal for Chleb and inviting him to dinner.
Tense time: Back in November 2021, she and Chleb Ravenell “went separate ways” when an episode of Southern Charm’s season 8, which aired in July, revealed the disintegration of their romance
“I thought Chleb would be my person forever, but now it is, I don’t know,” she said in a confessional. “I feel like he has one foot in, one foot out.”
However, her boyfriend confessed his love to her and told her that he wanted to return to her.
“I’m busy and I feel like you lack empathy for what I’m going through,” Kathryn said, referring to her ongoing custody issues with her ex Thomas.
Chleb responded by claiming that she doesn’t care about him as much as he cares about her.
“You don’t care about my feelings,” he said, although it seemed he still wanted to solve their problems. “Honestly, I’m trying to make it work.”
Disagreement: Both parties seemed to agree that Kathryn’s custody battle with Thomas (pictured) was a catalyst for the split, though they had different interpretations
Too early? Kathryn claimed Chleb was “emotionally unavailable,” but he claimed she “threw it straight at me” after three months.
Kathryn went further by saying she wasn’t sure the relationship could survive their differences.
“The last few days I’ve been thinking a lot about what I need and what I didn’t get in this relationship,” she said, adding that she thought Chleb was “emotionally unavailable.”
“I’ve had relationships with emotionally unavailable people and I haven’t seen you take the steps to fulfill the role that I would like someone to fill,” she continued.
But Chleb claimed it was her custody battle with Thomas that pushed him away from her. Kathryn and Thomas share their eight-year-old daughter Kensington and six-year-old son St. Julien.
“I didn’t know what I was getting myself into before I dated you,” Chleb said. “About three months into our relationship, you threw the kids right at me.”
Kathryn suggested that if he couldn’t handle her family, Chleb might not even consider a relationship, before suggesting that they should end things for good.
Sad Goodbye: Chleb stormed out of her house and packed his things while Kathryn was left in tears
“I can’t keep trying if I don’t feel like you’re trying,” she continued. “I never imagined what that moment would be like where we would really like to go our separate ways, but I really think that’s for the best for you and for me.”
Kathryn was overwhelmed with tears and Chleb cursed before packing up some of those things and leaving.
Back in November 2021, a source told Us Weekly that the former couple didn’t have any hard feelings for each other.
“Her husband-to-be would have to be that amazing stepdad to her kids and be someone who is genuinely committed to her, and [Chleb] it just wasn’t,” the source said, echoing their tense discussion of Southern Charm.
“They weren’t supposed to be and even friends of hers caught on. She has as much love in her life as she has with her little kids,” the insider continued.
The couple first started dating in July 2020.
