The Trois-Rivières Police (DPTR) began the search for a kayaker who had been missing for two days on Saturday morning.
Pierre Couture, 65, launched his boat at the Maïkan Aventure outdoor center around 1:30 p.m. Thursday but never returned from his trip on the river.
“[Le sexagénaire] is a regular who kayaks regularly. “He has a habit of paddling up to the level of the Ki-8-Eb golf club on the Saint-Maurice river and then going back down to the island of La Potherie,” the authorities explained, indicating that his disappearance was reported on Friday evening.
After preliminary checks, police began intensive search operations along the Saint-Maurice river on Saturday morning, while firefighters carried out checks on the waterfront. Drones from civil security and the fire department as well as a helicopter from the Sûreté du Québec were also involved.
Pierre Couture is 1.85 m tall. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a wetsuit, an orange long-sleeved shirt and an orange life jacket. He was sailing aboard an Epic V6 kayak.
