Actor Kayky Brito (29) was released from the hospital this Friday. He was admitted to the Copa D’Or Hospital because he was run over in the early hours of the morning (2) on Avenida Lucio Costa, number 4,700, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio.

“The Copa D’Or Hospital informs that the patient Kayky Fernandes Brito, hospitalized since September 2, 2023 and a victim of multiple traumas, was discharged from the hospital this afternoon with the injuries successfully corrected and he is in able to continue the rehabilitation process in his home,” says the text, signed by assistant doctors Edno Wallace and Ney Pecegueiro and medical director Marcelo London.

In the early hours of the accident, Kayky was at a beach kiosk with friends, including actor Bruno de Luca, when he crossed the street and walked towards a stopped car. On the way back to the bar, he passes behind another parked car and is eventually run over when he reaches the lane of Avenida Lúcio Costa.

This week, civil police concluded that the app driver who hit Kayky was traveling below road speed. According to the final report of the 16th DP (Barra da Tijuca), obtained exclusively by TV Globo, Diones was driving his vehicle at an average speed of 48 km/h at the time of the collision. He provided assistance immediately after the accident.

A video also obtained by TV Globo shows the moment of the collision from inside the car. The image was captured by a camera aimed at the interior of the Fiat Cronos driven by Diones. In the recording you can see when the driver tries to swerve but ends up hitting Kayky.

The actor cannot be seen in the video, it only shows the reaction of Diones and passenger Maria Estela Lima. When Maria Estela notices someone running in front of the car, she responds, “My God,” and is interrupted by the sound of the impact before finishing the sentence.
