Giants rookie edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux’ snow angel after the sack and his subsequent “go to bed” gesture while Nick Foles was injured in the second quarter last Sunday angered Colts center Ryan Kelly and head coach Jeff Saturday.
Kelly called Thibodeaux’s response “horse shit” while Saturday called it “trash” and said he was disappointed that no Colts player approached Thibodeaux while he was celebrating on the field next to Foles. During a session with reporters in the Giants locker room on Wednesday, Thibodeaux said he wondered who the “gatekeeper” was to decide on the “narrative” what was appropriate, and media officials pointed out what happened Saturday earlier this week was said.
“I don’t know who he issaid Thibodeaux via SNY. “Anyone who comments on it, unless I know who they are, it doesn’t really affect me.”
Thibodeaux was also asked if anyone at the Giants had spoken to him about doing things differently. After asking what he would handle differently and being told the celebration, Thibodeaux said no and that he will continue to play with “high emotions” and “high adrenaline”.
“What am I should do now? Every time I sack a quarterback, stop and look and help him up? You don’t play the game for someone to get hurt, but I play the defense,” said Thibodeaux. “They brought me here to be a savage and take over the game and influence the game. We preach that influencing the game affects the quarterback. That’s what I’m here for.”
Thibodeaux provided the kind of defensive influence the Giants were looking for in the first round of this year, and since the Colts’ game there has been no sign from the team that they are unhappy with any other part of the package, so has Thibodeaux little reason to change anything in week 18.
