There is no movie star like Keanu Reeves🇧🇷 On the opposite spectrum of the smiles of millions tom cruise or Julia Robertsthe star of John Wick: Baba Yaga it exudes a quirky, eccentric charm that impresses with its undeniable authenticity.
It was that charm that was evident during the John Wick panel Thunder Stage by Cinemark Club and the public CCXP it was not requested. Early on, the applause and cheers were so overwhelming that Reeves got on his knees on stage and practically kissed the Thunder’s floor.
He then read posters from the audience, including “Save all the dogs and autograph me” (“Great message”) and “You’re stunning” (“Love it!”), the latter in homage to a meme featuring the actor. Hearing an “I love you” from the audience, he replied in an embarrassed voice, “I love you too!”.
Have we gone too far?
One of the highlights of the panel was a behindthescenes look at John Wick: Baba Yaga, in which we see the titular killer enter a nightclub where of course brutal action sequences take place. Eventually, the fire alarm goes off in the town and John continues fighting his opponents in the flooded area.
“In Baba Yaga, we have everything John Wick always had: cars, guns… but we took it to the next level,” Reeves says in the video. “Finally I asked myself… have we gone too far?”
The film’s central set piece appears to be an action sequence centered around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The scene, a mixture of a fight and a motorized chase, was cited by Reeves on the podium as the one that required the most training.
“Me and Chad [Stahelski, diretor da franquia] we met in the first matrix, then we both went to the Wachowskis’ film school. He has a lot of imagination in the action scenes. When I say I want to ride a horse, he says, ‘But then you’re going to fight on the horse,'” he joked.
“It’s always fun to learn new things. I drove a lot in this film, risked risky stunts and shot in the car. I trained for four months and I think I did well on the shoot,” he added.
However, time has taken its toll on the star: “The biggest challenge was recovering from the action scenes. I’m old, I’m 58, after every scene I was like, ‘Oh my back! My knees!'”.
But what about the future?
With the John Wick franchise entering spinoff territory, including ballerina With Ana de Armas (with which Reeves himself confirmed participation, albeit only “in a few scenes”), the question remains: Is it time for the character to retire?
“When we started this franchise years ago, I never thought that I would have the privilege of being here to promote the fourth film. I think people realized it was something new and interesting,” the actor said. “We never had a big plan for the John Wick franchise. We only make a film if the audience responds well to the last one. So if you like the IV we can do another one. But do you know that we did the IV like this was our last, with a lot of love”.
But what makes Reeves want to play the killer so badly? He explains himself: “I love John’s willpower and the code he follows. Despite doing so many terrible things, he is a moral man in an immoral world.”
