Actor Keith Jefferson, known for his roles in the films “Django Unchained” and “Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood”, died this Thursday (5) at the age of 53 after a battle with cancer. The news was confirmed by his close friend, fellow actor Jamie Foxx, through a post on his Instagram profile.
According to Terra, Jefferson had already announced his cancer diagnosis to the public in August of this year, but he preferred to keep the news private until then. In the words of Jefferson, “Every now and then God will give you a challenge and let you solve it.” When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I had to stop, take a break, and not share it with anyone. Not with my family, not with my relatives.”

However, thanks to the support of his growing faith and loved ones, including his mother and Jamie Foxx, the actor felt encouraged to share his battle with the disease. “Today I am finally able to share because my faith is growing stronger. I have a loving family and the best friends in the whole world. You know who you are. From my mother to Jamie Foxx and everyone in between. I love her with all my heart.”
Jamie Foxx was responsible for announcing the death, posting a picture of both of them on Instagram and declaring his love for his friend in an emotional post:
Everything hurts now, it’s hard to look at these photos and relive the memories of how we had so much fun. I’m going to miss you man, I’m going to miss you…since we met in college you have an incredible soul, God rest, I never thought I’d have to see the words about my boyfriend. REST IN PEACE.
