Kendrick Lamar announces new album and changes name to oklama

Kendrick Lamar has finally announced his new album, more than five years after the release of DAMN. Or should I say oklama announced a new album? When Kendrick teased his “last TDE album” last summer, he signed the note “oklama” and it was posted to oklama.com. Now the same site has shared a press release “from the desk of oklama” via “his company pgLang” announcing the release of the new album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers on May 13th. That’s less than a month! That’s great!

According to the press release, “all factual information for this press release is obtained exclusively directly from this source.” Meanwhile, Kendrick’s Twitter account linked to the announcement, citing another Feb. 13 tweet that read, “Kendrick Lamar is officially retired.” So I’m guessing he’s the artist formerly known as Kendrick Lamar now? Or maybe, as one wise commenter below suggests, the tweet was cited as a joke to prove Kendrick didn’t actually retire? Or both? Who cares about the details when his rapping is as superb as it is on those Baby Keem songs.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers will be released on May 13th. on TDE. For what it’s worth, the Black Panther soundtrack was a really good load of Kendrick Lamar music, even though it wasn’t technically a Kendrick Lamar album.
