Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes is certainly getting a lot of calls these days regarding Arber Xhekaj's availability. Even though it's been made clear that the defenseman isn't willing to be traded, that hasn't stopped at least one other NHL team from making an offer in hopes of acquiring the guard.
At least that's what journalist David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period revealed on Saturday morning.
In fact, Hughes would have turned down an offer for Xhekaj, which would have sent a young forward to Montreal who was a former first-round pick and had the potential to play on the second line.
Xhekaj was recently recalled from CH. Before he puts on the blue, white and red sweater again on January 23rd and 24th. Xhekaj had not played in the NHL since November 16, 2023 due to an upper body injury and a 17-game stint with the Laval Rocket.
In 19 games in Montreal this season, he has one goal and two assists. In Laval he scored three goals and provided eight assists.
