Kesha changes Sean Diddy Combs reference in Tik Tok lyric

Kesha changes Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reference in ‘Tik Tok’ lyric after Cassie’s abuse lawsuit

Kesha is rewriting one of her biggest pop hits.

The pop star, who famously referenced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs in the opening line of her breakout hit “Tik Tok,” removed the lyrics during a Saturday performance at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Kesha originally mentioned Combs in the electro-pop party anthem with the line “Wake up in the morning feelin’ like P. Diddy.”

“Wake up in the morning feeling just like me,” Kesha sang on stage, according to footage shared by Hollywood Unlocked on Instagram and X accounts @ViralThingz And @brandonbtch.

USA TODAY has reached out to Kesha’s representatives for comment.

The lyrical change comes days after Combs found himself at the center of an explosive lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura, known professionally as singer Cassie.

Cassie accuses and sues Diddy for rape, sex trafficking and physical abuse

The “Me & U” singer filed a sex trafficking and sexual assault lawsuit against Combs in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY.

The complaint alleged that Cassie, who began a professional and sexual relationship with the Bad Boy Records founder when she was 19, was trafficked, raped and brutally beaten by Combs over the course of a decade.

“After years of silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story and speak up for myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships,” Cassie said in a statement at the time. “This was an opportunity to talk about the trauma I experienced and will continue to recover from for the rest of my life.”

Combs denied Cassie’s “offensive and outrageous” allegations and accused his ex of blackmail in a statement to USA TODAY on Thursday.

“Over the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demands for $30 million under threats to write a damaging book about their relationship, which has been clearly dismissed as blatant blackmail,” it said the declaration. “Although Ms. Ventura has retracted her original threat, she is now filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies aimed at damaging Mr. Combs’ reputation and demanding a paycheck.”

Cassie and Diddy settle the lawsuit like a bomb the day after it was filed

But just a day after Cassie filed the lawsuit, both parties announced Friday that a settlement had been reached in the case, according to a statement from attorney Douglas Wigdor.

A settlement amount was not disclosed.

“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on the understanding that I have some degree of control,” Cassie said in a statement Friday. “I would like to thank my family, fans and advocates for their unwavering support.”

“We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best,” Combs said in a separate statement. “Love.”
