Kevin Bacon first came to the attention of many fans when he starred in the original slasher film Friday The 13th (1980), which later became a surprise hit and spawned a 12-film franchise.
It turns out the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as daughter Sosie Bacon has now had a hit in the horror genre too with her role in Smile, which stayed at number one for three weeks.
“She’s amazing,” the proud dad, 64, said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, before revealing how “amazed” he was by not just how great she was, but how difficult the role was was because it’s one of those parts where there’s no break.’

Kevin elaborated on what he means by it being a non-stop role, sharing that most characters usually start off pretty happy for at least 15 or 20 minutes before things get awful.
He added: “But this is a film where the stress levels are high [insane]. I was very proud of her.”

Sosie, 30, and Smile’s success is similar to what happened to her father and his breakout role in Friday the 13th, in which she plays Jack Burrell, the teenager known to be killed while on the road back in bed.
After leaving home at 17, the Philadelphia native landed in slasher films about four years later, while also having a small role on a soap opera.
“Friday The 13th was kind of the definition of a low-budget indie. It was done for free. I was in Blairstown, New Jersey. I used to have to take a public bus to a bus stop in the middle of a country road and someone from the set would pull out and pick me up. I mean, that was the most obvious thing about transportation,” he said of filming the film in 1979.
While “Friday The 13th” was budgeted at $550,000, the film went on to become a hit, grossing $59.8 million at the box office. And that was just the beginning as it gained franchise status with 11 more films, a TV series, novels, comics, video games and collateral.

In keeping with family tradition, Sosie’s mother, Kyra Sedgwick, has also starred in the horror film The Possession (2012) alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Madison Davenport, Grant Show, Natasha Calis, Matisyahu and Jay Brazeau.
Kevin went on to explain that until they were in their early 20s, he and his 34-year-old wife didn’t even know Sosie was interested in any type of acting career.
She dropped out of college, moved to LA and really started doing the right things,” he said of the process she went through to build her own career. ‘Hit the pavement, self-tape after self-tape and learn.’
Sosie actually landed her first role in the drama film Loverboy (2005), directed by her father, who also co-starred alongside his wife Kyra Sedgwick, 57.
