Kevin Feige really wanted to clarify if Captain America was a virgin

Slight spoilers for the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law!

The question of whether Captain America was a virgin has been one of the biggest debates among MCU fans, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, thanks in large part to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, has finally shed some light on the love life of to bring the first avenger.

In the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters and Dr. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner in a car and begin to discuss Cap’s virginity issue. Walters argues that he never had the time to lose his virginity due to his talent for always having to save the world before and after freezing.

After initially refusing to talk about his boyfriend’s love life, Banner eventually reveals that “Steve Rogers is not a virgin. He lost his virginity to a girl on the USO tour in 1943.”

As reported by THR, She Hulk showrunner Jessica Gao spoke to io9 when she shared that Feige was all about exploring the issue and eventually putting the debate to the proverbial bed.

“Kevin really got into that joke and he was actually the one who volunteered the answer to that question,” Gao said. “I couldn’t believe we had to finally settle this issue once and for all.”

Gao also spoke about how the philosophy of the writing team on She-Hulk was to not only explore the issues MCU fans had been trying to respond to, but also to ask for forgiveness rather than permission and to push the boundaries of which issues could be addressed.

“Our philosophy really was that we should just do things until they tell us we can’t, because when you start asking for permission too much, you give people an opportunity to say no,” Gao said .

Though he didn’t reveal the answer, Captain America actor Chris Evans spoke to Vanity Fair about the subject in 2014, saying, “Cap puts what he wants at the end. That’s his MO, and I think he’s been refusing to pickle people for so long. So it’s hard to explore a guy who doesn’t want to make waves with his own personal conflict.”

“It’s funny when you think about it,” Evans continued. “He’s probably still a virgin. He’s probably a virgin! I don’t know when it would have happened.”

Evans finished by sharing that he thinks Cap was probably waiting for Peggy Carter, but he left a little room for one special dancer.

“He was on tour. Maybe that’s true,” Evans said. “Maybe one of them [dancing] Girls blew him away.” He laughed, adding, “He’s probably just a good guy. He’s probably been waiting for Peggy Carter and is probably a bit more old-fashioned in that sense. That’s a lot of things that I think are huge conflicts, but they’re also very personal conflicts. He’s a very human guy. That’s why I like him.”

Evans recently tweeted a response to the conversation in She-Hulk, making emojis speak.

Ruffalo didn’t hesitate to answer either, said, “Sorry brother. It was under extreme pressure.”
