A Baltimore mansion previously owned by Kevin Spacey is set to sell at auction for more than $5.6 million after the actor defaulted on his mortgage payments amid his sexual misconduct scandal.
The sprawling riverfront estate was secretly occupied by Spacey while filming the Netflix hit House of Cards. The owner is listed as “Clear Toaster LLC.” At one of his trials in April 2022, it was confirmed that he was linked to the 64-year-old actor.
Spacey fell behind on his payments for nearly a year, leading to a judge approving a foreclosure sale last August. Those looking to get a glimpse of Hollywood in Maryland can expect the auction to take place on February 29th.
Although the price is $5.65 million, the starting bid for the waterfront home will not be revealed until the auction.
The home was purchased by Clear Toaster LLC. in 2017, a Spacey-affiliated company. For several years it remained unclear who the real owner of the house was. The actor revealed that the Baltimore property was his home and he purchased the property with the intention of making it his permanent residence
The spacious living room adds elegant style to the secluded waterfront property, which Spacey said was built to protect his “privacy and security.” It appears to be right next to a dining room and its furniture matches the pure white fireplace almost perfectly. People in the room who want to go outside are in luck because there is a door behind the couch that leads to a majestic view of the outdoors
The elegant five-story home features an elegant wooden design and features a range of luxurious amenities, including a sauna and a rooftop terrace
The kitchen's colorful chairs add some color to a seemingly white kitchen near the home's long spiral staircase. The stainless steel stove is ideal for anyone who wants to prepare a good meal, and the white refrigerator blends well with the white walls of the kitchen. The long island directly behind the stove offers plenty of space for food or other items to be stored
The dining room, located near the kitchen and living room, has the same colored walls and floors as the living room and kitchen. The windows are not large, but they still bring a touch of natural light into the room
Kevin Spacey's Inner Harbor mansion in Baltimore will be auctioned off on February 29th. In the $5.65 million home, the 64-year-old actor was seen hiding from sexual assault allegations made against him in 2019. He fell behind on mortgage payments during negotiations
While the five-story home is compact, it features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and private space in Baltimore's historic Inner Harbor seaport.
Spacey was spotted at the 10,000-square-foot property more than once in 2019 while awaiting sexual assault charges, with the property seemingly perfect for a homeowner looking to live in a secluded gated community.
According to court documents obtained by The Baltimore Banner, “all or most” of the properties Spacey purchased were structured to protect his “privacy and security.”
The house's location in Baltimore allowed Spacey to film the Netflix show “House of Cards,” in which he portrayed fictional U.S. President Frank Underwood for five seasons before facing sexual assault allegations.
Inside the house there is a beautiful wooden spiral staircase that takes you to each floor of the house, although the chic apartment is also equipped with its own private elevator to reach the numerous floors.
Although Spacey was looking for privacy, the house is also suitable for large events, as the property can accommodate over 300 people at a hypothetical party.
When the next homeowners host large gatherings, their guests can be entertained with an array of luxurious amenities including a sauna, home theater, porches, and a rooftop deck with harbor views.
There is a beautiful wooden spiral staircase in the house that takes you to every floor of the house, but there is also an elevator for those who don't want to climb the stairs. It is conveniently located near the kitchen, dining room and one of the living rooms
One of the spacious living rooms features similar colored furniture and walls as the one near the kitchen, but instead of an outdoor balcony, guests can enjoy the waterfront directly from the long windows throughout the space. The water views are breathtaking and the natural light is bright enough to make the room shine on a rainy or sunny day
One of the six bedrooms in the Baltimore residence features long curtains that perfectly cover the windows and provide plenty of light in the room. The bed frame fits perfectly with the bedside table and is an interesting furniture addition to a bright room with a brown and white color theme
The shelves and table in the house's walk-in closet are perfectly coordinated. The built-in table has numerous drawers for storing things like socks or underwear, while the shelf between the two windows can accommodate plenty of shoes
The balconies are one of the most amazing things the Inner Harbor is known for – beautiful water views. It's unclear how many patios there are at Spacey's former home, but the actor was apparently able to enjoy the water views from most areas of the house while remaining in seclusion
The sauna, located directly next to the stairwell, does not have dark wooden floors like the hallway. However, the floor fits the sauna environment almost perfectly and offers a relaxing retreat that is not too big and not too small
There is also a four-car garage on the property that could potentially be used as storage for a small boat.
News of the auction came from McCabe, Weisberg & Conway. Debt collection agency.
Spacey has continued to keep a low profile since the allegations and lawsuits, but resurfaced during an interview with Tucker Carlson on X (formerly Twitter) while posing as his House of Cards character Frank Underwood.
Spacey – as Underwood – said: “This country is so mired in contradiction and confusion.” “We don't even know how to help anyone anymore because we can't agree on who needs help.”
Spacey only made two acting appearances in 2023, one of which was his interview with Carlson.
However, he will be taking on the role of Gore Vidal in the film Gore alongside Griffin Dunne and Douglas Booth.
