A child has wreaked havoc at one of Melbourne Airport’s baggage carousels as he ran down the conveyor belt before throwing people’s suitcases on the floor.

The video showed the little boy jumping onto the conveyor belt and running around, despite his mother’s warning and telling him to come down.

“Get down now,” the mother was heard to say.

“Get down now or I’ll come get you,” she called, to which the boy replied, “No, you won’t”.

Travelers watched in shock as the boy wandered around on the carousel before grabbing one person’s suitcase and hauling it away.

The mother screamed again, but the boy ignored her request to behave.

It wasn’t until a Melbourne Airport employee jumped onto the public address system that the boy began to behave.

“Hello everyone, can the parents please control the child running around on the carousel at carousel number 4,” the airport worker said over the intercom.

‘We’ve got security and the police coming to see you.

“Please get your child off the carousel, thanks.”

When the boy heard that the police were on their way, he quickly jumped off and ran to his mother.

Social media users were shocked by the video and said they should never have acted like this.

“If that was me as a kid I would have been buckled up next week,” one person commented.

“My mom would have cut me up in front of all these people,” said a second.

“This reminds me to take my pill,” joked a third.

Others applauded the quick-thinking PA system worker for scaring him off with the mention of the police.

“The lady from the PA must be a mother…she saw what she had to do. The boy walked out at the mention of the police,” one person commented.

“Bro threw up when he heard the police were coming to see him,” wrote another.

A Melbourne Airport spokesman told Chron Australia the safety of passengers and staff is of paramount importance.
