Kiev claims it damaged a Russian warship in the Black Sea

The Ukrainian army claimed to have caused significant damage to a Russian warship near the Kerch Strait. For the Ukrainian presidency, “the Russian Black Sea Fleet is a symbol of occupation.”

Ukrainian naval drones damaged a Russian Black Sea Fleet patrol boat off the coast of Crimea, Ukrainian military intelligence said on Tuesday, March 5.

The latter stated in the Telegram message that their special forces Group 13 attacked the patrol boat Sergei-Kotov near the Kerch Strait, causing “damage to the stern, starboard and port.”

In an apparent reference to the attack, Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that “Russia's Black Sea Fleet is a symbol of occupation.”

“She can’t be in Ukrainian Crimea,” he added.

Traffic was stopped

Rail traffic on the bridge that connects Crimea, which was annexed in 2014, to Russia's Krasnodar region across the Kerch Strait has been suspended, according to a Telegram message from a pro-Russian official on the peninsula. Road traffic was also disrupted for several hours.
