New drone attacks on Russian territory

Kiev: dead after Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia

According to Ukrainian information, a Russian air strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia left two dead and four injured. “Search and rescue work at the site continues,” Anatoly Kurtev, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia city council, wrote on Telegram over photos of a five-story building with broken windows and a destroyed entrance. The rubble is scattered.

Zaporizhzhia is the administrative center of the wider Zaporizhzhia region in southeastern Ukraine, which is partly controlled by Moscow. Earlier, a Moscow-appointed official in Russian-controlled parts blamed Ukrainian forces for attacks in the city.

Following the delivery of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, Moscow is threatening the US with consequences. “The consequences of this measure, which was deliberately hidden from the public, will be very serious,” the Russian agencies said, citing Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov.

Meanwhile, Russian air defense systems intercepted 28 Ukrainian drones overnight, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The drones were destroyed in the Russian regions of Belgorod and Kursk, as well as in the Black Sea, the ministry said in a statement on Telegram.
