North Korea has “directly or indirectly” something to do with the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the current crisis in the Middle East. This was stated by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. Yoon met U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin as part of annual talks on security and strategies to deter nuclear threats from Pyongyang and said Pyongyang was involved in some way in both conflicts. This is reported by Yonhap.
Yoon then called for better joint defense between Seoul and Washington, thanks to which the South Korean side could respond quickly and effectively to any kind of “provocation” from North Korea, including “surprise attacks” with “tactical” similarities to those carried out by Hamas on October 7.
South Korea has warned in recent weeks about its northern neighbor’s alleged involvement in these two conflicts: several shipments of rockets and projectiles have arrived in Russia from North Korean ports, and Pyongyang has shared weapons and military intelligence with Hamas, the country has denounced.
