Kim Cattrall pays tribute to her mother.
The 66-year-old actress took to her Instagram to announce her mother’s death. Shane Cattrallwho passed away at the age of 93.
Cattrall has posted a number of photos of her and her mother over the years, including a throwback photo of the actress when she was a toddler.
“Shane Cattrall 1929 – 2022. Rest in peace Mum ❤️,” she wrote in the caption.
Many friends and fans have sent their condolences to Cattrall, including comedians, Alan Karrwho wrote: “Sorry darling. I send you lots of love ❤️”
Queer as Folk Reboot Creator Stephen Dunn also chimed in, writing: “Sending all my love ♥️✨”
Global Director of Art for Soho House, Kate Bryan, also commented, writing: “I’m so sorry for your loss Kim. We all owe your mother a lot of time for giving us you! I send you love and light 💕.”
Cattrall has always shared the love she has for her mother with her followers. Back in February, the Sex and the City actress shared a photo of her mother’s 93rd birthday on Instagram.
The post included a selfie of the mother-daughter duo as Shane donned a cute yellow polka dot dress with a tan cardigan, which she accessorised with pearl necklaces.
“Happy 93rd birthday mom! 🎂 You’ve seen it all and we’re glad you’re still with us. ❤️,” Cattrall wrote in the caption.
Later in March, she also shared a cute video of her mother singing “Oh Mr. Porter” by the 1964 English rock group Herman’s Hermits.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2019, Cattrall spoke about her mother’s upbringing, explaining, “My mother’s childhood was shocking and dramatic.” She continued, elaborating that “her father abandoned my grandmother, leaving her in terrible poverty left behind and struggled to raise three children. As I got older, that inspired me to tell stories about real women who aren’t superwomen, but extraordinary powers need survival.”
