In the latest episode of her family’s new Hulu reality series, The Kardashians, the mogul broke down in tears after West – whose name is Ye – met up with her ex-boyfriend, singer and entrepreneur Ray J to use the computer fetch with the hard drive on which the footage was located.
The 2007 tape, filmed when Kardashian and Ray J were dating at the time, led to what the E! reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Kardashian said West not only retrieved the footage for her, but also for the four young children they share.
“I want to protect them from that as much as possible,” she said. “And if I had the power to do that or if Kanye has the power to do that, that’s just the most important thing to me. And I’m so emotional about it.”
It all happened last year, before Kardashian hosted “Saturday Night Live,” where she appeared with her now-boyfriend, actor Pete Davidson.
Their relationship seemingly motivated West to share during an interview with Hollywood Unlocked in January that he got the rest of the recorded footage for Kardashian, who filed for divorce from West in February 2021.
“How do you take me to ‘SNL’ and kiss the guy you’re with right in front of me?” said West during that interview. “And everyone’s like, ‘Oh, that’s cool.’ after i left [and] got the laptop myself from Ray J that night right?”
Kardashian was declared legally single in March.
In the reality show episode, West said he didn’t pay for the rest of the tape, which Kardashian said didn’t include any additional scenes about intimacy, just footage of her and Ray J hanging out at a club and a restaurant was.
