Kim Kardashian says her and Kanye West’s eldest children, North, 8, and Saint, 6, are aware of their parents’ ongoing differences.
“I’m really open and honest with them,” the reality star told Robin Roberts during ABC News’ The Kardashians special when asked how she was talking to her kids about the divorce.
“The younger ones don’t understand that much, but as for my two older ones, they know what’s going on.”
Kardashian – who also shares Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2, with West – said her goal is to “be there for her no matter what, even in this crazy life we’re living.”
At the start of Wednesday’s primetime special, screenshots of West’s since-deleted Instagram posts and snippets from his “Eazy” music videos with The Game (in which he mocked Kardashian’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson) flashed across the screen.
“Was it difficult because Kanye was so public? How were you able to navigate that?” Roberts, 61, asked, to which Kardashian, 41, replied, “You want to take the main road, and sometimes it’s hard. But I think at the end of the day everyone has their own way of communicating.”
She continued, “I’ve always been a stickler for him speaking his truth and I always would want that.”

In recent months, West, 44, has launched numerous public attacks on his ex-wife, her family and 28-year-old Davidson, whom the musician claimed to bury alive to the lyrics: “God saved me from this crash / Just so I can punch Pete Davidson’s ass.”
The rapper’s social media rants resulted in a 24-hour ban from Instagram, and he was later banned from attending the 2022 Grammys.

Speaking further about the divorce, Kardashian told Roberts that she thinks it’s important to have a “really open dialogue” with them.
“Kanye and I have been having conversations, we have to have daily conversations for the kids,” she explained. “Well, you know, I hate that it had to be like this, but when it comes to family, I mean, Kanye and I will always be family.”
She added, “At the end of the day, I just want my kids to be happy and healthy and think their dad’s world, and they do.”
