Author and screenwriter Kim Lévesque-Lizotte says with great humility that she has agreed to direct this “larger than life” theater project based on the characters of the hit series of the 1960s and 1970s.
“This is a project that’s bigger than me, which is nostalgic,” she tells the Journal. I’ll try to do justice to this cult series that was a truly remarkable universe for Quebec and for women. »
If the director’s name is announced in the coming weeks, we will have to wait until the start of the school year to know the names of the performers of the famous Dodo and Denise.

A tradition
Created by Gilles Richer and interpreted by Dominique Michel and Denise Filiatrault, the idea behind the return of the mythical characters came from producer Martin Leclerc and his buddy Éric Belley (Content Producer here).
“A few names are coming out, but we haven’t made any attempts yet,” says Martin Leclerc about possible actors. After the success of Symphorien (more than 50,000 tickets sold, more and still full screens), the producer had the idea of creating a trilogy of great Quebec television “sitcoms”. He is keeping the name of the third production a secret for the time being.
“The success is there, so is the nostalgia, and people are asking for more,” he says. I believe that Moi et l’autre – such a strong brand – can have the same success as Symphorien. It’s our tradition to highlight the people who have shaped Quebec, which we will increasingly do in theatre. »

A natural choice
Choosing Kim Lizotte to write was a natural fit for the Me and the Other 2.0 team. The author is behind several recent TV hits in Quebec, including the series Avant le crash.
“She is a sought-after author who currently enjoys a good reputation. She has experience writing television scripts that we think will carry over to the theatre, says Martin Leclerc. She has the talent and the creative level to add to her background in the world of humor that is so important in Moi et l’autre. »
The reactions of the two main interested parties, Dominique Michel and Denise Filiatraut, were very positive. They are 90 or 91 years old and will not be involved in the project.
The play Moi et l’autre will be an original story set in the 1966-1971 era of the series. It will make a guest appearance at an (as yet undisclosed) theater in the province in the summer of 2024 and then leave to tour Québec.
