The Windsors’ War begins today with the first three episodes of the documentary by Netflix on the dukes of Sussexand ends on January 10th with the publication of the book by Prince Harry. In the end we’ll see who won: Britain’s monarchy could emerge slapped with fresh allegations of racism and insensitivity, but so could the Duchess Megan Markle and her husband are now in grave danger. It’s not just in Britain that the air is changing around them: in America, too, the constant whining of these unfortunate millionaires is now considered offensive.
COUNTDOWN
While waiting to connect to Netflix, Carlo, Camilla, William and Kate are still pretending nothing happened. Business as usual is the motto but the intent to respond to the Sussexes’ wickedness has leaked out from the palace. Certainly not Carlo, who is the king and cannot quarrel with a former American second-rate actress, even if she married one of her sons. Instead, William will take care of it, and especially the English newspapers, who have been firing only a few shots for days, sure that the noise will be heard as far away as California, will take care of it. For example, it became known that Carlo Harrys no longer took calls from America because his son only called him to ask for money. Elisabetta tried to get him to answer, but Carlo replied: «I’m not a bank».
THE LIES
The Sun then revealed that many of the photos, which will appear on Netflix to document the Sussexes’ paparazzi siege, were taken on other occasions when they weren’t even present. In one, for example, photographers were framing Katie Price, in another they were crowded at a Harry Potter film premiere, in another a camera is secretly capturing Harry and Meghan from above, but it was one of the three photographers who were by the couple meanwhile were authorized to visit Desmond Tutu. The Chron stressed that the two staunch environmentalists flew to New York on another private plane and had stickers put on their license plates, which is against the law. Meghan wore a white strapless gown designed exclusively for her by Vuitton Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière to accept the Kennedy Foundation Award. Two days earlier, Queen-to-be Kate also wore a strapless dress in Boston, but rented it in London from Hurr for £74. “Are you putting the money in front of the family, Harry?” a reporter asked. The prince replied, “So many questions,” and left.
The progress of the Netflix series does not bode well. Fleeing the uncontrollable paparazzi, the Sussexes have had trusted photographers film them on dozens of private occasions: Meghan can be seen weeping in an armchair while Harry looks at her dejectedly. Another image from the series captures the Sussexes at Westminster Abbey, sitting behind Kate with the scowl of a wicked witch. Happiness only comes to California in the photos, far from the royal family. In her speech in New York, Meghan alluded to her suicidal thoughts “when you can’t see a way out”, to her struggle “to tear down the walls of oppression”, to the mission of the “proponents of healing”.
THE EXPERIENCE REPORTS
At Buckingham Palace, the pros who formed the “Meghan Survivor Club” after leaving the Sussexes’ service asked to be exempted from the confidentiality clauses so they could speak out about the bullying the Duchess had subjected them to. The dossier of the internal investigation is still locked in a drawer, but the key could soon be found. And Carlo has told his closest associates that if there is any malice or allegations against his wife Camilla in Harry’s book, he will strip the Sussexes of the titles they still retained and reduce them to the lay status of Mr and Mrs Windsor -Mountbatten, very difficult to sell to Netflix and publishers.
