Jean-Denis Boudreault, 43, falsely claims to have founded the sovereign state of Tayos in Quebec. He even collects money from people who want to immigrate to his fake country in exchange for fake documents. Le Journal revealed last week that the Quebecer was arrested at his home in Val-des-Lacs in the Laurentians.

Once there, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confiscated several dangerous weapons from his residence. This father is accused of repeatedly obstructing or intimidating police officers, harassing them and presenting false documents.
“At the hearing on September 14, Mr. Boudreault was declared fit to stand trial. The court also issued a release order with conditions to be adhered to,” confirms Me Patricia Johnson, deputy spokesperson for the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).

No more guns and no more fake names
According to a court document seen by Le Journal, Jean-Denis Boudreault must meet a long list of conditions if he is released.
He cannot change his address without the court’s permission. He is prohibited from communicating and from being near certain locations where the police officers involved in this case are located.
Listen to the last message that the “King” left his fans on the social network Telegram after his arrest:
Jean-Denis Boudreault will not have the right to carry multiple items, including assault weapons or restricted use weapons. The Quebecer will no longer be able to use his false identity, which he claimed on forged documents to be called “King Regis Lucius I.”
The court prohibits him from carrying any bank document of any kind, in particular credit cards, ATM cards, checks, bills of exchange, that is not made out in his own name.
Arrested with a fake license plate
The origin of these allegations dates back to July 2023. That’s when Mr. Boudreault was arrested by the SQ while driving a car with a Tayos license plate and a false driver’s license from the same imaginary state.
Below is an excerpt from the arrest between the SQ and the “King” of Tayos on July 29th:
His car was then confiscated by the police. This entire scene was filmed on the alleged king’s cell phone. The 43-year-old man had threatened the agents by falsely mentioning that they had no authority over His Majesty “King Regis Lucius I.”
