Koala mourns the death of the female and hugs the lifeless body goodbye; see video

A situation of deep sadness captured on camera revealed a koala's feelings of grief. The animal hugs and mourns shortly after its death under the body of a female koala, which may have been its friend or companion. The situation happened in Australia.

The video was shared by the NGO Koala Rescue (@koala_rescue), which went to the meeting point of the two animals to rescue the small mammals. Unfortunately, when the NGO arrived in the area, they found only one of the live animals and a scene of deep sadness with the male koala hugging the female's body.

“Upon arrival, the rescue team located a deceased adult female and adult male. It's always devastating to take part in a rescue with a deceased koala, but it was even more heartbreaking to see the man holding and hugging the lifeless koala. These types of behaviors are rarely observed by our rescuers, but they confirm the empathetic and caring nature of koalas,” the NGO wrote.

The cause of death was not released and the man was rescued and released in a safer area near where he was found.
