After discovering that she had “gained so much weight” since starting IVF, Kourtney pursued the Instagram trolls who drew attention to her changing appearance with a series of violent comments.

“I find it rude to comment on people when you have no idea what they are going through,” she said.

“The medications they gave me caused me to go into menopause,” she added. “Literally in menopause.”

Chris looked flustered and replied, “Based on what? A drug?’ Courtney replied, “Yes,” though she didn’t specify what medications she was taking as part of her fertility treatments.

IVF is commonly used by women or couples who are struggling to conceive naturally, and it involves the retrieval of eggs from the ovaries, which are then fertilized with sperm in a laboratory before being transferred to the uterus.

Many women preparing for IVF are given one or more forms of fertility drugs by their doctor, which are used to trigger the release of hormones that then stimulate egg production.

Kourtney didn’t elaborate in the clip if she’s still in menopause or if she’s just experiencing menopause-like symptoms that include irregular periods, hot flashes, chills, night sweats, and weight gain.

Fertility drugs are known to cause symptoms very similar to those experienced during menopause, including hot flashes, weight gain, mood changes, and bloating.

What drugs are used in IVF and can they trigger menopause?

In vitro fertilization is a fertility treatment method commonly used by women or couples who are struggling to conceive naturally.

Treatment involves the retrieval of eggs from the ovaries, which are then fertilized with sperm in a laboratory and then transferred to the uterus.

Before egg retrieval, a doctor will often give women fertility medications that help stimulate egg production and increase fertility throughout the IVF process, thereby increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Some of the drugs used during IVF include:

  • Clomid or serophene (clomiphene): An estrogen-blocking drug.
  • Follicle-stimulating hormone: used to stimulate the production of eggs.
  • Human menopausal gonadotropin: in addition to clomiphene
  • Human chorionic gonadotropin: causes the ovaries to release viable eggs.

Fertility drugs are known to cause several symptoms similar to those of menopause, including hot flashes, weight gain, and mood changes. However, studies on whether IVF can induce menopause are few and far between.

Women usually experience menopause between the ages of 40 and 55, but the median age in the US is 51. Menopause is diagnosed when a woman has not had a menstrual cycle for 12 months.

Typically, menopause occurs when a woman is between the ages of 40 and 55 and is diagnosed after the woman has gone 12 months without a menstrual cycle.

After menopause, natural pregnancy is no longer possible, but IVF is still possible, and previously frozen eggs can be implanted.

Fans who were able to view the teaser before it was removed seemed to sympathize with Kourtney’s concerns about people teasing her about her weight gain.

“So true, I always felt sad for her when people commented on her weight and ‘looks pregnant’… bless her,” wrote one person, according to Page Six.

“Anyone who has gone through IVF can fully understand this. It’s not the most amazing experience,” wrote another user.

Kourtney previously snapped at rude fans last December when they asked if she had a “pregnant belly” after she posted several photos of herself in the pool with Travis.

“Are we really going to do this every time I post a photo?” the reality TV star replied.
