The group Kard, one of the most popular Kpop bands in the world, spoke about a situation of racism that they experienced in 2017 while participating in the Raul Gil program on SBT. They were victims of the moderator’s racism and prejudice.

In an interview with YouTube channel ArchiveK, singer Jiwoo spoke about what happened. At that time, they came to the country to promote the release of a single and take part in an attraction panel.

At the time, Raul Gil said that the members should “open their eyes” and tried to imitate the pronunciation of an Asian language in a mocking manner and with doubleentendre jokes.

Everyone was visibly embarrassed, including the translator accompanying the group, who, in order not to embarrass them during the recording, decided not to translate the comments for the Korean singers.

“In the beginning, when I went to Brazil, I experienced a lot of racial discrimination. It was a TV show with a large audience, with a person who was basically the master of ceremonies of the country, and he was racist,” Jiwoo said.

“We didn’t notice it at the time. When we realized it much later, it hurt a lot. If we had known what was happening, we would have been angry. We might have even walked off the stage,” Jiwoo said.

Raul Gil was wanted by F5 and took the stand through his son, director Raul Gil Jr. He is consulting lawyers to figure out how to take the stand because he was surprised by the fallout from the case.
