Kremlin: No information about Kadyrov’s health news

According to the Kremlin, there is no information about the health of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. The media speculated that the president of the Russian republic was dead. A spokesman for Kadyrov did not respond to repeated calls asking about Kadyrov’s alleged treatment at a Moscow hospital.

“We have no information about this,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Moscow today. “Anyway, the presidential administration can hardly issue health certificates, so we can’t say anything here.”

The 46-year-old Chechen ruler is involved with troops in Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. He is considered a hard-liner and has repeatedly called for even tougher action from Moscow. Kadyrov’s fighters are famous for their brutality.

Kadyrov leads the Islamic republic in the North Caucasus with a heavy hand. Civil rights activists repeatedly complain of human rights violations, including torture and persecution. In the 1990s, Chechnya, which was then fighting for independence, fought two wars against Russia. Moscow managed to regain control of the region with massive attacks.
