Twilight star Kristen Stewart graced Rolling Stone's latest cover in little more than a leather vest and a jockstrap, telling the outlet that she chose the “gayest thing you've ever seen.”

Stewart, who came out as gay in an opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live” in 2017, chose to frame the cover shoot in a way that flips the “gender script,” as Rolling Stone editor Alex Morris said. described.

“She wants the cover to send a clear message: hypersexualized, left-of-Andro, and a reversal of the gender script,” Morris told readers in an interview with the actress that gave an in-depth look at her LGBTQ identity.

Claiming that men normally have this freedom, she added: “Guys – I'm sorry – but their fucking pubic hair keeps getting shoved in my face and I'm like, 'Ummmm, bring it in.'”

Stewart's interview also discussed what it was like for her to be gay in Hollywood. She noted that she had an easier time compared to pioneers like lesbian actress and her “Panic Room” co-star Jodie Foster.

“And it works: Jodie [Foster]I, Boygenius [the band]. I'm in the middle. Do you know what i mean? Jodie had it so hard and I don't speak for her – I objectively analyze the time and place she was and that's not easy – I'd say f—— almost impossible when “You wanted to continue doing what you love,” said the actress.

She added: “It wasn’t a problem for me. But that's probably because of the kind of space I live in, and the pieces I'm drawn to, and the filmmakers I'm drawn to, and the audience that exists for these films .”

Stewart admitted that she might have had a harder time being gay in Hollywood if she wanted to take on more “commercial” roles.

The actress also commented that younger people are even more free with their sexual identities than she is, noting that she has a “millennial” awareness of gender conformity compared to them.

“I look at these kids who are so scary on all these fronts, and they can do that too [gender] being like an accessory can actually play on the novelty of it – have [femininity] One day I don't have it the next.

Seeing things in this LGBTQ light has also caused the actress to re-evaluate the film franchise that made her a household name. In an interview with Variety last month, Stewart said that “Twilight” is “such a gay movie.”

“I can only see it now. I don't think it necessarily started that way, but I also think the fact that I was there in the first place leaked out. It’s such a gay movie,” she said.
