Kurt Angle shares his thoughts on Stephanie McMahon’s retirement.
Stephanie stepped down as Chair and Co-CEO of WWE on January 10, leaving Nick Khan as sole CEO, while the Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint her father, Vince McMahon, as Executive Chairman. Shortly after those moves were announced, rumors of a possible WWE sale began to circulate, but reports that a deal had been struck were later debunked.
On The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer, who worked with Stephanie for several years, commented on her retirement, noting that he was surprised by the decision. He said Stephanie was a great employer and she reminded him of her father, Vince.
“I’m surprised. I didn’t expect Stephanie to step down,” Angle said. “I’m not sure if she did it because of her father, but she’s an elegant woman and she was a great employer.” She recalled I really like Vince in a lot of ways. I think that’s why he trusted her with the business. I’m just really surprised that she quit
Angle also shared his thoughts on the WWE sale rumors, stating that Vince, Khan and Triple H will make whatever decision they feel is in the best interests of the company.
“I know a lot of people are concerned about what’s going to happen to WWE,” Angle said. “I can tell you one thing – Vince McMahon, Nick Khan and Triple H, they will always do what is best for the company and what is best for shareholders. Whatever that is, that’s the decision they’re going to make.”
