Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean was pictured taking driving lessons in San Diego, California earlier this month.
The visual artist, who is the only child of the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole singer Courtney Love, was also spotted with friends a few days later.
The media figure previously took to Instagram on August 18 – her birthday – to reflect on how she’s grown over the past decade and to express that she didn’t expect to make it to 30.

The artist opted for a sleeveless green top and fitted black trousers contrasted with white heels as she enjoyed the company of her friends.
She was also spotted in a mint green top with black pants and white boots while hanging out with friends.
This comes after she shocked fans by saying she didn’t think she would live long.
The star began her Instagram message weeks ago by saying that she previously didn’t expect to make it to 30.
She wrote: ’30!!! I did it! Frankly, 20-year-old Frances wasn’t sure if that was going to happen.

The artist then wrote that she has now overcome the doubts she felt in her earlier years.
“At the time, an intrinsic feeling of deep self-loathing, dictated by insecurity, destructive coping mechanisms, and more trauma than my body or brain could handle, was affecting how I saw myself and the world; through a lens of resentment, being brought into a life that seemed to attract so much chaos and the kind of pain that came with grief that felt inevitable,” she expressed.
Frances then recalled a specific case where she went through a near-death experience.

Outspoken: She described the experience as “the event that catapulted me to walk towards this lived experience with radical gratitude.”
“Then, ironically, an event on an airplane that brought me closer to death is the event that propelled me to run toward that lived experience with radical gratitude. I’m glad I was proven wrong and found ways to turn pain into knowledge,” she said.
She also shared a quote from author Jaiya John that she “holds tight,” writing, “The gentler she became with herself, the gentler she became with the world.”
“It’s a feeling I try to remember on a daily basis,” she explained. “As this new decade begins, I hope to stay soft no matter how hard the world can feel at times, to bask in awe in the present moment, to shower more appreciation on the people I’m lucky enough to love, than words could ever do justice, and holding space to keep learning so growth never stops. I am happy to be here and I am happy that you are here too.”
Inspirational: She also shared a quote from author Jaiya John that she “sticks to,” writing, “The softer she got with herself, the softer she got with the world.”
Grateful: She added that she was “lucky to be here and I’m glad you’re here too”.
Frances’ father, Kurt, has struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues throughout his life. He died by suicide at his Seattle home in April 1994 at the age of 27. Frances was then almost two years old.
Her mother, Courtney, was married to Kurt from 1992 until his death. Frances inherited 37 percent of her late father’s estate in December 2009.
In 2019, she revealed that she feels “guilty” about inheriting the money, which is reportedly worth more than $95,000 a month, because she “didn’t deserve it,” People reported.
“It’s almost like this big, huge loan that I’ll never get rid of,” she explained during an episode of RuPaul: What’s The Tee? podcast.

Frances has shared fewer than a handful of Instagram posts in the past year after taking a year-long hiatus from the platform in 2021.
In June, she revealed on Instagram Stories how she’s spending Father’s Day after losing her dad when she was a toddler, detailing channeling her emotions into a creative project.
“Today can be complicated for a lot of people,” she wrote. “So I just thought I’d share my annual tradition for the day.”

She continued, “I try to use every energy I’m feeling (sometimes sad, sometimes deeply wounded or lost, but in recent years curious and compassionate) to bring something into the world that didn’t exist before , through some sort of creative outlet.”
Frances then expressed, “I like to think that when something beautiful can coexist alongside something sad or complicated, that leaves room for those emotions to be conveyed with purpose and meaning.”
“Sending everything that needs to be sent to you today,” she concluded the message, including three heart and blue butterfly emojis.
