Kuujjuaq, a village in Nunavik, is currently the hottest place in Canada with a temperature of 34.1C, Environment Canada said on Twitter on Tuesday.

“This reading represents an 18 degree deviation from the average maximum on July 4. Nearby, in Salluit, it’s currently 2°C,” it read.

The two northern villages of Salluit and Kuujjuaq are about a 3.5 hour flight from each other.

Remember Monday was the hottest day ever recorded in the world, Agence France-Presse said.

In fact, the average was over 17°C.

Experts have been observing an increase in global temperatures for several years.

An air quality warning from Environment Canada is still in effect in Kuujuaq on Tuesday.

“High concentrations of fine particles from forest fires lead to poor air quality and limited visibility in places.” These conditions could last for a few days,” says the federal government’s website.
