Kyiv: fighting advances south

According to Kiev, the Russian army continues its ground offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian General Staff yesterday reported 63 battles along the approximately 1,000 kilometer long front.

After the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the town of Avdiivka in the industrial Donbass region, the focus of fighting shifted south to the town of Novomykhailivka, southwest of Donetsk, a military spokesman said.

Last night, Russia again attacked the Ukrainian Black Sea region of Odessa with combat drones. The Russian military has used 22 attack drones against Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force said. Air defense intercepted 18 of these drones. There was no information about possible damage or casualties.

At the same time, Russian sources on the annexed Crimean peninsula reported Ukrainian attacks near the city of Kerch. Remotely controlled drones would be used in the air and at sea. The extent of these attacks could not initially be estimated.

Kyiv: Russian warship sunk

Furthermore, according to information from Kiev, a Russian warship was sunk off Crimea by a Ukrainian water drone attack. The corvette “Sergei Kotov”, which also serves as a heavy patrol boat in the Black Sea Fleet, was hit, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.

The ship suffered impacts on the stern, as well as on the port and starboard sides. The attack was also confirmed on Russian military blogs. Ukraine has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for more than two years.
