One of the best wide receivers in the country is off the board.
?Four Star Wideout Kyler Kasper of Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field announced Sunday its commitment to Oregon, selecting the Ducks over more than two dozen other scholarship offers, including Iowa, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and UCLA.
The lanky, 6-foot-5, 185-pound prospect paid an official visit to Tennessee on April 8 and promptly announced that he would be announcing his college pick. Kasper made it to Eugene twice this offseason and was blown away each time.
“Really, all the staff up there is so down to earth,” Kasper told 247Sports. “The big selling point for me was the coach Junior Adams. He’s a great coach who’s obviously training Cooper Kupp and we got to see all the great things that Kupp has done in the NFL. I just had a great feeling for Coach Adams and Oregon overall and can’t wait to get up there.”
In fact, Kasper doesn’t have to wait long to return to Eugene for good. He is reorganizing into the Class of 2022 and plans to come to campus in mid-July to participate in the program.
“I’m thrilled,” said Kasper. “I am really looking forward to being up there and getting things rolling. The coaches see that I can do anything on this offense and play anywhere on the field, whether in the slot or on the field. It’s a very versatile role.”
In 11 games as a junior last season, Kasper was credited with 51 receptions for 943 yards and nine touchdowns. The Iowa Legacy has averaged over 18 yards per catch over his two collegiate seasons.
Kasper’s father, Kevin, was drafted in the sixth round from Iowa in 2001 before playing in the NFL for eight years.
“He’s got nice soft hands that he uses to get the ball out of the air,” 247Sports national analyst Chris Singletary wrote in the younger Kasper’s scouting report. “An important quality he has is his ability to follow the ball with ease and make hard catches. Due to its excellent size and length, its catch radius is something that defenders struggle with when covering it. This is a positive for quarterbacks who know he can make the play when the ball isn’t always on target.”
It’s another notable win for the Ducks at Grand Canyon State. The program has been successful in the Phoenix area in recent years, drawing in people like quarterbacks Ty Thompson, Bram Walden and Brandon Buckneramong other.
Cabbage Martina four-star corner from Chandler (Ariz.) Basha and teammate from Kasper on the 7v7 track, is a commitment in the 2023 class.
