  • Al-Hilal have made a world record £259m bid for Kylian Mbappe
  • The Saudi Arabia squad have been given permission by PSG to speak with him
  • There continues to be interest in the striker from the likes of Man United and Chelsea

Paris Saint-Germain have given Al-Hilal permission to speak with Kylian Mbappe after making a staggering world-record £259m bid for the forward.

Mbappe has been put up for sale by the French champions after refusing to sign a new deal as his deal has just one year left and could now join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in Saudi Arabia.

PSG are now allowing the Saudi Arabian club to speak to the 24-year-old, who was absent from pre-season visits by Japan and South Korea.

News of the offer broke back on Monday and PSG would probably have always agreed to it as President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has no intention of losing him on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

If the deal goes through, it will eclipse Neymar’s £198million move from Barcelona to PSG as the most expensive transfer in football history.

The offer on the table would reportedly see Mbappe earn a staggering £600million in just a year.

However, it remains to be seen whether the striker will accept the deal as he has long been interested in a move to Real Madrid – which could still be an option in the summer of 2024 if Al-Hilal included a release clause in his hugely lucrative one-year contract.

Mbappe was close to joining Carlo Ancelotti’s side in 2022.

But he made a sensational about-face and stayed at PSG by penning a new contract.

He continues to be linked with a ‘dream move’ to the Spanish giants and PSG understand he has already agreed to join them on a free transfer in 2024.

The move to Saudi Arabia could represent a compromise as PSG receive a lucrative transfer fee and Mbappe can still join Madrid in 12 months if they can meet his release clause.

But Mbappe’s future may not lie with either Al-Hilal or Real Madrid.

At least five clubs contacted French giants PSG over the weekend to express their interest in the attacker Sky Sports.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also still interested in signing 24-year-old Mbappe this summer

Three of those clubs are Premier League teams, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham all interested in Mbappe.

United are looking to sign a striker this summer after Cristiano Ronaldo departed mid last season.

They have been linked with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund as they look to strengthen their front line after signing midfielder Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Meanwhile, Chelsea only managed to score 38 goals last season, putting them in 12th place. They’ve since signed Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, but it looks like Mbappe is targeting their spend-loving owner, Todd Boehly.

Spurs could lose Harry Kane this summer as Bayern Munich refuse to give up in the hunt for the England captain and the north London club could see Mbappe as the ideal replacement.

There was also interest from Europe: Barcelona and Inter Milan contacted PSG. A move to Barcelona would come as a huge shock given Mbappe’s admiration for bitter rivals Madrid.

Inter reached the Champions League final last season and Mbappe’s signing would be a huge coup as the club have declined to return to the club following Edin Dzeko’s move to Fenerbahce and Romelu Lukaku.

PSG have received various offers, with the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal being discussed.
