Six weeks after giving birth to her second child, Wolf, on Feb. 2, Kylie, who has kept a pretty low profile on social media in recent months, returned to Instagram on Tuesday to update her fans on the realities of her journey. .

After sharing a boomerang of herself walking on the treadmill, Kylie uploaded a series of videos in which she speaks candidly on camera about how she’s coping after giving birth.
“This experience for me personally was a bit more difficult than with my daughter,” she began, referring to the 4-year-old Stormi, whom she famously gave birth in secret, completely hiding her entire pregnancy.
“It’s not easy mentally, physically, spiritually, it’s just crazy,” she continued, emphasizing that she considers it necessary to be as honest as possible with other young mothers who may face similar difficulties after childbirth.
“I didn’t just want to go back to life without saying it because I think we can look online – for other moms who are going through this right now – we can go online and it might look a lot easier for others. people put pressure on us, but it was not easy for me either,” she said.
“It was hard,” she continued, admitting that it was difficult for her to come to practice that day. But I’m here and I’m better. So you figured it out!”
In a second series of videos posted moments later, Kylie was more specific about the public obsession with appearance after birth, reassuring her followers that “it’s okay that things aren’t okay.”
“I realized one day that I was putting some pressure on myself… And I just keep reminding myself that I made a whole person, a beautiful healthy boy,” she said, before adding, “We have to stop putting pressure on ourselves to be ‘back. ‘ Not even physically, but only mentally, after birth. So yes, just sending some love. I love you, guys!”

Her candid statement came as a pleasant surprise to many of her followers, especially in light of the fact that she famously survived her first pregnancy and postpartum journey away from the limelight.

Soon after, fans gathered on Reddit and praised Kylie for her honesty, with one user noting that it seemed like the most sincere thing she’d been online in a long time.

“Does anyone think this is the real Kylie in years?” they wrote. “Showing her vulnerability and attitude towards other moms… it seems like a huge step for her.”
“I really appreciate her vulnerability and the fact that she shared her difficulties,” agreed another.
Similarly, a recurring theme of praise has been the stark contrast between her current openness and the carefully crafted and refined content she usually shares on Instagram.

“It’s so unusual for her to open up like this. Appreciate reality! someone wrote. “A nice change from her regular content.”
“This is such a genuine moment from Kylie,” another echoed. “I appreciate that she showed the man behind the veil for a moment.”
Another pointed out that after giving birth to Stormi in 2018, Kylie returned to Instagram pretty quickly with her usually polished content, giving the impression that her postpartum recovery was pretty easy, making her recent post all the more meaningful.
“I really appreciate that she said this because I feel like she always made it easy (as many moms do) and I [struggled] so damn bad postpartum,” they said.
However, there were a couple of fans who, while appreciating Kylie’s candor, couldn’t stress enough that she and her family have a big responsibility to perpetuate the social pressures that make new moms feel the need to “fall back.” ”
“Yes, but this is such a tone [deaf] on her part to make this ‘real’ video about postpartum pressure, when things like her own postpartum plastic surgery with Stormy amplify that pressure on the average woman in the first place…” someone wrote, calling attention to Kylie’s epic comeback to the world stage after her first pregnancy.
“It’s good that she spoke out about the unrealistic expectations that influencers like her and her sisters help create in the beauty industry,” agreed another user. “I hope she keeps that openness and realism the rest of the time she posts.”
If you’ve been following the family for a while, you know that Kylie’s recent announcement marks a shift in the Kardashian and Jenner sisters’ postpartum recovery talk.

Despite what her social media presence may have suggested at the time, Kylie struggled with body image issues after gaining weight during her first pregnancy.

During a 2018 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the beauty mogul can be seen wrestling with her post-birth insecurities as she prepares for a Calvin Klein photoshoot with her sisters just weeks after she gave birth to Stormi.
In this scene, her sisters assure her that her body looks great, to which Kylie replies, “It just doesn’t.” Later in the episode, Kylie reveals that returning to photo shoots was “tough and discouraging” for her, reflecting the much broader issue of having to lose weight after giving birth.
With that in mind, Kylie’s decision to speak candidly in real time about postpartum recovery struggles with her second pregnancy is in stark contrast to her post-Stormi approach, perhaps hinting at a new and more unfiltered view of motherhood in the public eye.
Like Kylie, her sisters, Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe Kardashian, have faced body image issues after having children. However, instead of taking the slow and steady path, they decided to face their struggles by adopting a public regimen to lose weight as quickly as possible.

After giving birth to her first child, Mason, in 2009, Kourtney felt so much pressure to lose weight for the post-baby magazine that she ended up passing out after weeks of dieting and over-exercising.

Similarly, Kim revealed in 2016 that after the birth of her son Saint, she set a date for a major magazine photoshoot that became a deadline for her to lose weight, motivating her to stick to a strict diet until the date arrived.
So, less than six months after giving birth to baby Saint, Kim posed nude for the cover of GQ magazine to represent her post-pregnancy weight loss.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to feel better after a medically difficult pregnancy like Kim’s. However, the forced timeline of her weight loss shows a prevailing obsession with beauty expectations after childbirth, leading to extreme pressure on new moms after childbirth.
With all of that in mind, it seems like Kylie is taking a new approach and opting to tell fans about her slow and steady recovery – an unexpected but welcome turning point in Kar-Jenners’ filtered channels.
