Kyrgyzstan announces cancellation of military exercises

Baisalov explained why his country canceled the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) military exercises that were due to start on the 10th in Kyrgyzstan, the Vzglyad newspaper pointed out on Tuesday.

According to public opinion in Kyrgyzstan, he would not agree to the participation of the country’s army in the upcoming CSTO exercises due to the recent conflict with Tajikistan,

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan added that the Kyrgyz people would not see well that the same units of the Tajik Armed Forces that took part in the border conflict were present at the “Indestructible Brotherhood 2022” maneuvers.

And without the Tajiks, military exercises would not work because they are an important part of the CSTO, along with the armies of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, said Baisalov.

Blood has not cooled in the face of recent events, added the Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, specifying what he means by military clashes with “neighboring Tajiks”.

At the same time, Baisalov noted that in all CSTO capitals there is full understanding of the reasons for the cancellation of the exercises.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan stressed that the republic has absolutely untouchable membership in the CSTO and there are no problems with this organization.

Baizalov added that Russia’s role in Central Asia is very important in Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan relations as a strategic partner of both states.

“It is clear that Moscow now has many other urgent problems, but at the same time it can ensure order, peace and tranquility in all areas of its global responsibilities,” said the Kyrgyz politician.

Last Sunday, Kyrgyzstan announced that it was canceling the command and staff exercises of the Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that were scheduled to take place on its territory this year.
